КРАТКА АВТОБИОГРАФИЯ

Д-р Димов, Димо Тодоров е роден на 31 август 1949 г., област Русе, България.

Получава инженерно образование, по специалността "Автоматика и телемеханика" в Техническия университет на София, през 1973 г. Продължава със специализацията "инженер-математик" през 1974 г., а през 1979 г., пак там, защитава докторска дисертация по информатика.

От 1979 до 1982 г. е научен сътрудник в ЦИИТТ, София. От 1982 г. работи в БАН в областите: компютърна графика и бази данни (1982-1989), информатика и екологично инженерство (1989-1993), обработка на изображения и разпознаване на образи (1994-…). През 1991 г. е избран за ст.н.с. ІІст. по информатика. С тази позиция преминава в ИИТ на БАН (1994-2010) и след това (доцент) в ИИКТ на БАН, където бе и ръководител на секция "Обработка на сигнали и разпознаване на образи" (2010-2016). Като пенсионер от 2016, той продължава научната си дейност в рамките на ИИКТ-БАН.

Практиката му в системата на ВУЗ датира от 1995 г. с редовен курс лекции по разпознаване на текст и графика (за бакалаври), есенните семестри в Новия български университет, а пролетните - във ФМИ на Софийския университет. От 2005г. курсът е по Разпознаване на образи (за магистри).

След 2013г., той често е Erasmus преподавател в CVML (Компютърно зрение и мултимедия лаб.), Унив. на Павия, Италия, около седмица годишно: https://vision.unipv.it/events: ( 2018, 2016, 2016a, 2013, 2013a ).

Член е на Българската асоциация по разпознаване на образи, на Съюза на учените в България и на Съюза по автоматика и информатика. От 2000г. (до 2016г.) е член на ред-колегията на списанието "Кибернетика и Информационни Технологии" (CIT) на ИИКТ, а от 2004г. е научен секретар на международна конференция (CompSysTech), организирана ежегодно (от 2000г. насам) от Академичната Общност по Компютърни Системи и Информационни Технологии (АОКСИТ).

Други административни позиции заемани в институти на БАН: Научен секретар на ЦЛБМИ (1992-1994), Председател на научния съвет на ИИТ (2009-2010), Председател на Общото събрание на учените в ИИКТ (2010-2015).

Над 100 научни публикации на английски, руски и български, както и над 20 проекта характеризират неговите научни и научно-приложни активности, (списъци с по-важните публикации и проекти следват по-долу).
